HARRISONBURG, Va. – United Bank recently named Matthew Guthrie as Senior Vice President, Market President of its Harrisonburg market. As Market President, Guthrie will direct and oversee the day-to-day banking activities of commercial and consumer lenders of the seven United Bank branches in the Greater Harrisonburg area, while also leading public relations, marketing and client service strategies of the market.
“Serving the local community is – and always has been – a top priority of mine. And I feel that no other bank does so as well as United,” said Guthrie. “With its deep-rooted presence in the communities it serves, strong client relationships, and staff of seasoned professionals, making the move to United was an easy decision. I always knew that if I had the chance to work for the Bank, that’s where I wanted to be.”
Guthrie has 34 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry. He joined United Bank from Truist where he was VP, Market President and was responsible for management and optimization of all commercial banking operations in Charlottesville, Va. Prior to Truist, he held leadership roles at Wells Fargo and Bank of America.
“Matthew’s decades of banking and leadership experience makes him the perfect fit for the Market President role. Additionally, as a lifelong Virginia resident, his deep roots and strong commitment to the local community perfectly aligns with United’s values,” said Robert Wood Jr., SVP, Regional President, United Bank. “We’re excited to have a leader who understands the unique needs and opportunities of the rapidly growing Greater Harrisonburg market.”
Raised in Lynchburg, Guthrie graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. in Government and Pre-Law.
