MORGANTOWN, WV – United Bank recently welcomed Jonathan Schnell as Vice President, Senior Fiduciary Wealth Advisor for its Wealth Management division. In this role, Schnell will manage client relationships across the Morgantown Market and surrounding areas, providing expert guidance on investment strategies, asset allocation, and advanced estate planning for high-net-worth clients.
Based in United’s Suncrest office, Schnell will lead the Bank’s efforts to expand its wealth management business in West Virginia’s Monongalia, Preston, Marion, and Harrison counties, and Fayette and Greene counties in Pennsylvania. United Bank Wealth Management operates across three primary business areas – individuals and families, fiduciary and trust services, and institutional services. Financial experts across the Bank’s footprint serve as trusted local advisors, curating customizable financial solutions for clients, using the tools and resources expected from a global financial institution.
“As ‘West Virginia’s Bank,’ we are excited to expand our wealth operations right here in our founding state,” said Matthew Humphrey, Executive Vice President, Head of Wealth and Investment Management, and CEO, United Brokerage Services, Inc. “United’s Morgantown business continues to be a key growth market for the Company. As we looked to establish our Wealth team here, we knew we needed someone knowledgeable across all our lines of business offerings with the right level of expertise. Jonathan’s extensive background in the investment space, as well as his dedication to the local Morgantown community, will no doubt continue to drive United Bank’s business in the region.”
Schnell has nearly 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, spanning retail banking, insurance, investment advising, and financial planning specialties. Most recently, he spent nearly nine years as a TIAA Wealth Management Advisor, working with high-net-worth clients across West Virginia’s higher education and healthcare systems, including West Virginia University and Marshall University. Prior to that, he served as a relationship manager for PNC’s Private Client Group. Earlier in his career, he held financial services representative roles at Allstate Financial Services and MetLife and served as a personal banker at a regional bank. Schnell holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation from the College for Financial Planning and maintains the following licenses: FINRA Series 6, Series 7, Series 63, Series 65, as well as West Virginia Life and Health insurance licenses.
“What attracted me to United is its unique ability to offer the sophisticated banking and wealth management services you’d expect from a larger institution, but with the trust and care of a smaller, local organization,” said Schnell. “As a strong wealth management firm, I believe we play an important role in the financial ecosystem of Morgantown and its surrounding areas. In my new position with United Bank Wealth Management, my ultimate goal is to have a profound positive impact on the families and businesses I serve so that the fruits of our labor will be felt for generations throughout our community.”
Schnell received a Bachelor of Arts from Grove City College in Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Lindsey, currently live in Cheat Lake with their daughter, Evelyn, and are active in the local community. He was recently elected to serve on the board of directors of the Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center of Monongalia, Taylor, and Preston Counties – an emergency shelter and victim advocacy organization. He and his wife are also supporters of the West Virginia Botanic Garden and are members of Mercy Church in Morgantown.
