New center supports collaboration, operational efficiency, and continued investment in the Charleston community

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — United Bankshares, Inc. (“United”) (NASDAQ: UBSI), the parent company of United Bank, held a grand opening ceremony for its new operations center in Charleston on Wednesday, marking a continued effort to streamline operations and strengthen its service network.

The new center serves as a central hub for key operational teams, including Retail Operations, IT, Compliance, Customer Care, Fraud, Deposit and Loan Servicing, Loan Documentation, and Records Management. The co-located team structure enables faster issue resolution, promotes collaboration across operational functions, and positions the Bank to support continued growth and expanding service capabilities.

Teams began moving into the space in late spring 2026.

“This move gives our teams the opportunity to work more closely together while providing a space that supports stronger collaboration, greater communication, and a more unified culture,” said United Bank Managing Director of Operations Alan Searles. “By bringing several teams together under one roof, we are better able to align the operational functions that frequently support the same projects and issues.”

The three-floor, 34,800-square-foot leased space underwent a full interior redesign beginning in August 2025, resulting in modernized workspaces, enhanced meeting areas, and employee-focused amenities, including on-site parking and an interior ATM.

The center can accommodate approximately 170 employees and is the largest facility in United’s footprint outside of its United Square corporate office in Parkersburg. It serves as one of two primary back-office operations hubs supporting United’s more than 240 locations across eight states and Washington, D.C.

In addition to streamlining business operations, the new center reflects United’s ongoing investment in the employee experience and reaffirms its commitment to the Charleston community.

“These teams play a critical role in supporting several business units across the Bank,” said United Bank Regional President D.F. Mock. “We were intentional about keeping these jobs in the Kanawha Valley while creating a workplace that better supports our employees and allows us to continue serving the community we’ve long called home.”

Since its founding in 1839, United has grown from a single-office bank to a premier regional banking company with a strong presence throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. Today, United operates 50 locations in West Virginia, including nine in Kanawha County, and employs nearly 2,700 people companywide, with approximately 1,000 based in West Virginia.
