Proceeds Benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – For the 29th consecutive year, members of the local business and golf communities came together for the annual Kids Golf Classic tournament, benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg. The fundraising event, held at the Parkersburg Country Club, garnered a record-breaking $342,850 this year, surpassing 2024’s record by more than $28,000. All funds raised directly impact the 1,000 kids throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley that the Boys & Girls Club serves each year.
With this year’s funds, the annual Kids Golf Classic has raised more than $4.6 million since its inaugural event in 1997. The tournament's annual proceeds account for approximately one-fourth of the Club’s operating budget. These funds, which are not restricted, allow the nonprofit to improve the quality and quantity of the programs and services it provides.
The Boys & Girls Club is a steady presence in the lives of hundreds of youths in the area, providing access to a safe facility with a positive environment and caring adult professionals that foster the Club’s four priority outcomes: academic success, healthy lifestyles, good character and leadership, and life and workforce readiness. Area youth, many of whom face socioeconomic and geographic challenges, find hope and opportunity through enrichment provided by the Boys & Girls Club. Programs focus on health and life skills; sports, fitness, and recreation; education and career; character and leadership; and the arts.
“I have said it so many times I've lost count of the number, but without United Bank and Kids Golf Classic, there is NO Boys & Girls Clubs of Parkersburg. Another record-setting year is upon us, with nearly 500 members registered for our summer program. These dollars buy food, art supplies, fuel for our vans, hours for our highly trained youth development staff, and so much more,” said Lynn Reins, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg. “Without the support we receive from these corporate and individual donors, we wouldn't exist. I am always in awe of how this community shows up for its Club - we just released a new tag line for Boys & Girls Clubs, and it is beyond fitting - America Needs Club Kids. Club kids need you. By investing in Clubs today, you are investing in the future of your community. The Club kids of today are the teachers, doctors, service workers, elected officials, bankers of tomorrow.”
Each year, the tournament receives tremendous community support from golfers and businesses alike, many of whom have participated since the tournament’s inception. United Bank underwrites the cost of the fundraising event so that 100 percent of the funds raised by way of entry fees, sponsorships, and donations directly benefit the local organization.
In total, 140 golfers participated in the 2025 Kids Golf Classic, which was sponsored by 113 local businesses and community members. Titanium level sponsors with donations of $25,000 or more include: The Mary M. Welch Advised Fund of the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation – in memory of Mickey Welch; and CAS Cable. Platinum level sponsors with donations of $10,000 or more include: Astorg & Matheny, Inc.; Henry Logan Children’s Home Foundation; Mary Anne and Doug Ketelsen; Mary Riccobene; Murray Sheet Metal and United Construction Co., Inc.; Reagle & Padden Insurance.; The Ross Foundation; Tri-State Roofing & Sheet Metal Company; Richard Adams; and United Bank. Silver level sponsors with donations of $1,000 or more include: 46 local businesses and community members. Several other businesses and individuals also contributed to this year’s event, providing personal donations and serving as hole sponsors, helping to make the 2025 fundraiser the most successful year yet.
“It brings us immense joy to support such an impactful organization that is working to make change in our local Parkersburg community. Lynn and the staff at the Boys & Girls Club are the backbone of this initiative, and without their diligence and care for the area’s youth, we wouldn’t have cause for celebration as we do today,” said Chad Mildren, Chairman of the Tournament and EVP, Chief Consumer Lending Officer of United Bank. “United is proud to present this fundraising platform, and we are grateful to the people and local businesses who participated this year and those who continue to show up every year to support this cause. We also want to commend the kids and families of the Boys & Girls Club who make the decision each day to spend their time in this positive and empowering environment.”
