Annual Charity Classic Raises Record-Breaking $357,000 in Milestone Year

Washington, D.C. – United Bank hosted its 20th annual Charity Classic event to benefit Inova Kellar Center, which has provided behavioral health services to children, adolescents and families for more than 30 years. The golf tournament generated a record $357,000, bringing the grand total of funds raised to over $7 million since the inaugural event in 2002.

“Making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve across our communities is at the core of what we do, and we are inspired by our partners and employees who come together to support the important work of our nonprofit organizations,” said Mike Proctor, Chief Commercial Banking Officer, United Bank. “Inova Kellar Center’s efforts to provide comprehensive treatment programs and innovative special education for children and their families is life-changing and helps to ensure a brighter future for those who live and work in our community.”

The annual tournament fundraiser began as the Cardinal Classic in 2002, led by Kevin Reynolds, now United Bank’s Director of Sales and Regional President, and annually attracts more than 500 business and community supporters. Proceeds from the Classic provide funding that enables Inova Kellar Center to expand clinical services, finance critical staff positions and provide financial support to children and families who may not have the resources to obtain treatment.

“The demand for Inova Kellar Center’s mental health services for children, adolescents and families is at crisis levels,” said Rick Leichtweis, PhD, Executive Director, Inova Kellar Center. “We are deeply grateful to United Bank, and the many generous United Bank Charity Classic donors, for their longstanding partnership to help us meet the mental health needs of our community. We are especially grateful to Kevin Reynolds for 20 years of outstanding leadership of the Classic.”

In total, 124 golfers participated in the 2022 event at the Country Club of Fairfax on Oct. 3, alongside hundreds of volunteers, donors and business partners. Premier sponsors and donors included Richard Adams; The Peterson Family Foundation; FIS; Langley Park Plaza; NV Commercial; Van Metre Foundation; Mooring Financial; Elm Street Development; Christopher Companies; Dewberry; Buck & Associates Real Estate; AJ Dwoskin & Associates; WC Smith; Douglas Development Corporation; and William A. Hazel, Inc.

“Continuing the Charity Classic tradition is an honor and exemplifies United’s commitment to building and sustaining trusted relationships with our partners and communities,” said Kevin Reynolds, Director of Sales and Regional President, United Bank.
