Each year, United Bank is proud to host the Kids Golf Classic. The annual golf tournament fundraiser, which began in 1997, benefits the Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg and has raised more than $4.6 million to assist the nonprofit organization in its mission.

The funds, which are not restricted for any one specific use, allow the organization to improve both the quality and quantity of the programs and services they provide. The Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg is a constant in the lives of hundreds of youths in the area, providing access to a safe facility with a positive environment and caring adult professionals that foster the Club’s three priority outcomes: academic success, character building and healthy lifestyle choices.

“The Club continues to see a growing need for our programs and services. All the generous sponsors and donors of the Kids Golf Classic make the work we do possible – allowing us to develop new programs, provide integral training to our staff to lead these programs, continue to be a safe place for kids to be themselves and really become the premier-serving organization that we strive to be. We cannot overstate the immense impact United Bank and all of the local businesses and community members who sponsor and support the event have on each one of the kids and the families we serve,” said Lynn Reins, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg.

The tournament's annual proceeds account for approximately one-fourth of the Club’s operating budget. These funds, which are not restricted, allow the nonprofit to improve the quality and quantity of the programs and services it provides. All funds raised directly impact the 1,000 kids throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley that the Boys & Girls Club serves each year.

The tournament, which is entirely underwritten by United Bank, has tremendous community support from golfers and businesses alike, many of whom have participated and contributed since the tournament’s inception. Because of United’s underwriting, 100 percent of the funds raised from entry fees, sponsorships and donations directly benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg.

In total, 140 golfers participated in the 2025 Kids Golf Classic, which was sponsored by 113 local businesses and community members.

The Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg

The Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg, located in Parkersburg, West Virginia, opened its door to the Mid-Ohio Valley community in 1964 with a continuous mission of enabling all young people, especially those most in need, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

The Club provides a fun, safe space for kids when they need it the most – after school, during the day when schools are closed and throughout the summer. Through its various programs, the organization strives to set standards of excellence across all areas of youth services as a leading youth development organization, focusing on three priority outcomes: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles and Good Character & Citizenship.

All money raised through the Kids Golf Classic helps the organization continue to grow and add new programs. For more information on the Boys & Girls of Parkersburg, please visit their  website.
