Business Online and Mobile Banking

Please note: If your business did not receive a letter with a Company ID, your business online banking account will be accessed through United Bank’s Small Business Online Banking.

Essex Bank’s Business Online Banking service will be disabled at 5:00 p.m. on the Friday before transition weekend. Business Online Banking will automatically convert to United Bank Business Edge on the Monday post-transition. Administrators will receive a separate letter with detailed information on United Bank Business Edge. Additionally, United Bank will host a series of webinars to help make this transition easy for you. Please see the Business Edge Webinars section below for dates, times and how to access.

We believe you will find Business Edge to be an excellent tool in managing your company’s finances. Some features include:

  • Images of checks, deposit tickets and deposited items
  • Numerous informational, transactional and anti-fraud alerts
  • Integrated Positive Pay and ACH Positive Pay (optional services)
  • Up to 18 months of account transaction history (Up to 2 months of Essex Bank transaction history will convert to Business Edge)
  • Electronic delivery of reports including EDI, ACH returns and other notices

How to Access United Bank Business Edge

  • Beginning on the Monday post-transition, visit the United Bank homepage or sign in through the Secure Sign-In you see here
  • Choose Business from the secure sign-in box
  • Enter your Company ID. A seven-digit Company ID number, which is required at login, will be mailed to Administrators separately.
    Enter your User ID, which was emailed to you on Monday, November 22nd.
  • Click Sign In

  • Enter your temporary password. The temporary password for your first login will be “United1” plus the first three letters of your User ID, capitalized

  • Once logged in, you will be routed to the Business Edge welcome page, where you will see the same account information as you did with Essex Bank

There, you will also have access to an Administration Reference Guide to assist you with adding, modifying and deleting users and their access to your company’s accounts. Business Edge Webinars

To ensure a smooth transition, United Bank will be hosting several webinars to introduce Business Edge and highlight the various features and functionality available. These informative sessions will include demonstrations and a walk-through of all key areas of the system, including company administration, reporting and funds transfers.

You do not need to register for the webinars. Simply Choose the session that best fits your schedule and join via the access information found below. Each session will be the same and last about one hour with additional time available for questions. If you have multiple users at your company, we request that you share a line so that we may ensure access to as many clients as possible.

Bank With United Business Mobile App

For your convenience, United Bank offers a business mobile app, Bank With UnitedBusiness. The app is available for download on the App Store and Google™ Play and is free with your United Bank business checking or savings account.

Essex Bank Remote Deposit will become United Bank Remote Deposit Capture on the Monday post-transition. Remote Deposit users may continue to use the same scanning equipment with the same login information they currently use. The look and feel of the system will be the same, but you will notice United Bank’s colors and branding. United Bank will be converting Essex Bank Remote Deposit customers to an improved Remote Deposit Service at a later date. A separate mailing will be sent in the coming days containing detailed information.

Small Business Online and Mobile Banking

Please note: If you received a Company ID code, please see the Business section or page 12-13 of the Welcome Guide for Business.

Access to Essex Bank Online Banking will be disabled on the Friday of transition weekend. United Bank Online and Mobile Banking will be available on the Monday post-transition. If you currently use Essex Bank Online Banking, your accounts will automatically convert to United Bank Online Banking.

While some of the associated features will also automatically convert from Essex Bank to United Bank, you will have to reestablish others within United Bank Online Banking on or after the Monday post-transition.

Prior to the Friday of transition weekend, please be sure to confirm that Essex Bank has your up-to-date phone number. You may do so by contacting your local Essex Bank office or Essex Customer Service Center, or through Essex Bank’s online and mobile banking services. United Bank uses a one-time security code via phone call or text message to verify users when logging in to United Bank Online Banking.

How to Access Small Business Online Banking

  • Beginning on the Monday post-transition, visit the United Bank homepage or use the Secure Sign-In you see here 
  • Using the secure sign-in box, enter your User ID, with Small Business selected from the dropdown menu. Your User ID will be the same as your Essex Bank Online Banking User ID, but in all lowercase
  • Click Sign In
  • You will be prompted to receive a security code via phone call or text message. Your phone number must be associated with your account in order to be used for the security code. If you do not see your phone number listed, then you have either mistyped your User ID or your phone number is not associated with your account

  • Enter your security code

  • Enter your temporary password, which is the last six digits of your Tax ID (or Social Security number for sole proprietors). Please note: This temporary password will expire 60 days post-transition

  • Use the Reset Password option to create your new password. Passwords are case-sensitive, must be alphanumeric and between 8-32 characters

  • Use the eSign Prompt to accept the Terms and Conditions. Once logged in, you will be routed to the Accounts Page

If you do not see your phone number listed, then you have either mistyped your User ID or your phone number is not associated with your account. For help, please contact United Bank Customer Care beginning the Saturday of transition weekend at 800.327.9862.

QuickBooks, Quicken and Mint Users

Action is required on the following dates to ensure a smooth transition.


December 2

A data file backup and a final transaction download should be completed.  Please make sure to complete a final download on or before this date since transaction history might not be available after the conversion.

December 6

The remaining steps of the conversion instruction should be completed.  You will need to complete the deactivate/reactivate of your online banking connection to ensure that you get your current Quicken or QuickBooks accounts set up with the new connection.

Please review your downloaded transactions carefully after completing the migration instructions to ensure no transactions were duplicated or missed on the register.  For questions please contact United Bank Customer Care at 800.327.9862

Please note: Intuit aggregation services may be interrupted for up to 3-5 business days.  You are encouraged to download a QFX/QBO file during this outage.  The following services may not work during the outage: Quicken Win/Mac Express Web Connect, QuickBooks Online Express Web Connect, Mint.

If your business did not receive a letter with a Company ID, your business Online Banking account will be accessed through United Bank’s Small Business Online Banking.   Using Secure Sign-In, enter your User ID, with Small Business selected from the dropdown menu.  Your User ID will be the same as your Essex Bank Online Banking User ID, but in all lowercase. United Bank offers a business mobile app, Bank With United Business.   Bank With United Business is available for download on App Store and GoogleTM Play.

Please do not download the Bank With United Business mobile app for Small Business use. 

If you sign in to United Bank Small Business Online Banking, you will need to download the Bank With United mobile banking app to access your accounts via mobile device.   Bank With United mobile banking app is available for download on the App Store & Google PlayTM To use United Bank Mobile Banking, you will first need to sign in to your United Bank Small Business Online Banking account on or after the Monday post-transition. 

United Bank offers a business mobile app, Bank With United Business.   Bank With United Business is available for download on App Store and GoogleTM Play. Please note: You must first sign into United Bank’s Business Edge before you can access the mobile app.

United Bank prefers to use Out of Band Authentication (OOBA) for login and approvals via Online Banking. If your company wishes to continue using tokens, please contact us at 1.800.615.0112, Option 2.

If your company is entitled to send ACH and/or wire transactions, sending them through Business Edge is simple and can be accomplished via Money Movement within online banking. Detailed instructions can be found on the Quick Reference Guide page at www.BankWithUnited.com/BEB-QRG

Any direct deposits or automatic payments on your current account will continue automatically.  No action is needed on your part.  When establishing a new direct deposit or automatic payment after the transition, please use the United Bank routing number:  056004445.
