United Bankshares, Inc. Donates $3,000 to Local Elementary School
WOODSTOCK, VA – United Bankshares, Inc. (“United”), the largest community bank headquartered in Virginia, contributed $3,000 to WW Robinson Elementary in Woodstock as part of its 2017 “Teach Children to Save” campaign.
“We are very excited to have received the donation. We plan to use the money to support student achievement in the classroom. We are moving towards purchasing more Chromebooks for classrooms. This will greatly help in that initiative,” stated Jen Proctor, school principal.
Throughout the month of April, United employees visited local schools and youth organizations to teach children the importance of saving money as part of the American Bankers Association’s “Teach Children to Save” program. In honor of the 20th anniversary of the program, United randomly selected two schools, from the list of 119 schools and youth organizations visited by employees, to receive a $3,000 donation.
