Draber, EVP, Chief Operating Officer; Julie R. Gurtis, EVP, United Bank President; Matthew L. Humphrey, EVP, Head of Wealth Management; Charles J. Mildren, EVP, Chief Consumer Banking Officer; Michael Proctor, EVP, Chief Commercial Banking Officer; Anna J. Schultheis, EVP, Secretary to the Board of Directors; and Ami L. Shaver, EVP, Head of Human Resources.
Draber currently serves as EVP, Chief Operating Officer of United Bankshares, Inc. Draber joined the organization in 2010. Previously, Draber served as the Chief Operating Officer of United Bank, a subsidiary of United Bankshares, Inc., as well as the Chief Administrative Officer of United. Draber has been integral in the Company’s expansion efforts through mergers and acquisitions. Since 2010, the Company has announced six transactions with aggregate transaction values totaling approximately $3 billion and added over $20 billion in assets. Draber is a CFA® charterholder. He was also honored in the Washington Business Journal in their 40 Under 40 class of 2017.
Gurtis currently serves as EVP, President of United Bank. Gurtis joined the Bank in 1990 and previously served as Chief Commercial Banking Officer and was responsible for leading the commercial lending, commercial services, business banking, loan administration, sales management, and marketing departments within the Bank. Over 32 years, Gurtis has held many roles at United Bank, including Commercial Lender, Market President, and Regional President. Gurtis previously served on boards with Charleston Area Alliance, YWCA Charleston, and West Virginia Symphony. She currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of West Virginia Independent Colleges and Universities.
Humphrey currently serves as EVP, Head of Wealth Management and is responsible for the overall management of and strategic planning for United Wealth Management. Humphrey also serves as Chief Executive Officer of United Brokerage Services, Inc. He joined the Company in 2016, and holds the following licenses: Series 7, Series 24, and Series 66. Prior, he served in multiple leadership positions as an Army Aviation Officer in Korea, Central America, Afghanistan, and the United States.
Mildren currently serves as EVP, Chief Consumer Banking Officer of United Bank and began his career with the Bank in 2000. Prior to this, Mildren served as Regional President in West Virginia and Market President of the Parkersburg Market. For the past 12 years, he has been the Chair of the annual Kids Golf Classic, a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg. He is also a past Chair of the United Way of the Mid-Ohio Valley and board member of the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for the West Virginia Bankers Association.
Proctor currently serves as EVP, Chief Commercial Banking Officer. Prior to this, he served as Market President of United Bank’s Arlington and Alexandria Market. Since launching his career at United Bank in 2005, Proctor has served in a variety of roles within the commercial banking team. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the Advisory Board of the Inova Schar Cancer Center, and is the co-chair of the United Bank Charity Classic.
Schultheis currently serves as EVP and Secretary of the Board of Directors. She joined United in 1981, holding various positions in Administration, and was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2010. In her position, she is responsible for regulatory reporting for the Board of Directors and supporting the corporate governance framework for United Bankshares and United Bank Boards of Directors. She is a member of the Mid-Ohio Valley Chamber of Commerce and is a past President of the Marietta Welfare League, past President of the St. Mary’s Catholic School Board, and previously served on the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Humane Society of Parkersburg, Parkersburg Catholic Athletic Association, and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Committee.
Shaver currently serves as EVP, Head of Human Resources. In this role, she works to reinforce and improve the culture of our organization through pay and benefits, performance management, training and development, recruiting and onboarding, and to reinforce the values of the Company. Having worked for United Brokerage Services, Inc. in all capacities from 1997 to 2020, including operations, sales, and management, she holds the Series 7, 63, 65, 24, and 27 licenses issued by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Since 2005, Shaver has served as the Director of Retail Sales and Service and is responsible for the retail initiatives in United Bank’s branch locations, and more recently, assumed leadership for United Bank’s Customer Care Centers. She has served as a member of the WV Bankers Association’s School of Banking Board of Trustees, Graduate School of Banking-LSU Board of Trustees and is currently serving on the Board of Governors for the West Virginia University of Parkersburg.
